I drove 2 hours each way to get a DEXA scan. I didn't weigh myself before leaving because I wanted to be surprised if I hit the -100 pound mark.
**I fell short by 2 pounds.** The scale read 238.4 lbs at the clinic.
But here's the thing: **I technically DID hit -100 pounds** when you account for lean mass gain.
The DEXA scan from November 8, 2025 to February 14, 2026 shows:
- **Fat lost: -31.52 lbs**
- **Lean mass gained: +5.18 lbs**
- Net scale weight: -26.27 lbs
If I had just lost fat without gaining muscle, the scale would show -131.5 lbs total progress, not -98.2 lbs.
But the real story here isn't about hitting a round number milestone. It's about validation.
**The RENPHO bioimpedance scale was accurate all along.**
Let me show you the data.
## DEXA vs RENPHO: The Validation
I took a RENPHO scale reading immediately after the DEXA scan. Same morning, same location, same hydration state.
Here's the comparison:
**What this means:**
The RENPHO scale was **within 1 pound** on total weight. It was **within 0.5 pounds** on lean mass.
The only significant variance is on fat mass - the scale underestimated my body fat by about 3.8 lbs (or 1.7 percentage points).
**This is excellent accuracy for a bioimpedance scale.**
The trends were real. The fat loss was real. The muscle gain was real. The scale wasn't lying - it was just slightly optimistic about how lean I was.
23.3% body fat (DEXA verified) vs 21.6% body fat (RENPHO estimate) is close enough to trust the trends.

**February 14, 2026 Results:**
- **Total Weight:** 238.4 lbs (239.6 lbs from scan report)
- **Total Fat Mass:** 55.6 lbs
- **Body Fat Percentage:** 23.3%
- **Lean Mass:** 175.5 lbs
- **Bone Mineral Content:** 7.4 lbs
- **Visceral Adipose Tissue:** 687 grams
- **BMI:** 30.7 (down from 35.9 in first scan)
- **BMD (Bone Mineral Density):** 1.248 g/cm²
**12-Week Transformation (Nov 8, 2025 → Feb 14, 2026):**
- **Fat Lost:** -31.52 lbs
- **Lean Mass Gained:** +5.18 lbs
- **Net Weight Change:** -26.27 lbs
- **Body Fat % Change:** -9.6% (from 32.9% to 23.3%)
**Total Transformation (Aug 16, 2025 → Feb 14, 2026):**
- **Fat Lost:** -63.16 lbs total
- **Body Fat % Change:** -16.8% (from 40.1% to 23.3%)
- **Lean Mass Change:** +4.97 lbs (maintained almost all muscle while losing 63 lbs of fat)
This is textbook body recomposition. Aggressive fat loss while maintaining (and even gaining) lean mass.
## The 12-Week Recomposition Protocol
Between November 8 and February 14, I ran a specific protocol designed for maximum fat loss while preserving muscle.
**The Stack:**
- **Retatrutide:** 12mg weekly (entire 12 weeks)
- **HGH:** 5iu daily (started mid-way through, pulled after DEXA)
- **Testosterone Cypionate:** 150mg weekly (entire period)
- **GHK-Cu:** 2mg daily (last 8 weeks)
- **Telmisartan:** 40mg daily (blood pressure management)
**The Training:**
- Weightlifting: 6 days per week
- Progressive overload on all compounds
- High protein diet (1g per lb bodyweight minimum)
**The Results:**
- -31.52 lbs fat in 12 weeks = **2.6 lbs fat lost per week**
- +5.18 lbs lean mass = **0.43 lbs muscle gained per week**
- Net recomposition: **3.03 lbs per week** body composition improvement
This isn't just weight loss. This is aggressive body recomposition.
The testosterone was instrumental. Without TRT, I would have lost muscle during this cut. The HGH likely helped with recovery and lean mass preservation, but I pulled it after the DEXA because the results prove the protocol works without it.
## RENPHO Scale Report: Week 32 Body Composition

**Week 32 (Feb 14, 7:49 AM):**
- Weight: 239.4 lbs
- Body Fat Mass: 51.8 lbs (21.6%)
- Muscle Mass: 175.0 lbs
- Skeletal Muscle: 109.0 lbs
- Body Water: 137.4 lbs
- Visceral Fat: 8
- BMI: 30.7
The scale underestimated body fat by 3.8 lbs compared to DEXA (51.8 lbs vs 55.6 lbs).
But the muscle mass reading was nearly perfect: 175.0 lbs (RENPHO) vs 175.5 lbs (DEXA lean mass).
**This validates 32 weeks of bioimpedance tracking.** The trends were real. The fat loss was real. The scale was accurate enough to trust.
## Week 32 Numbers: Another Water Retention Week
**Week 32 vs Week 31 changes:**
- Weight: 239.4 lbs (down from 240.8 lbs, **-1.4 lbs**)
- Body Fat Mass: 51.8 lbs (up from 50.4 lbs, **+1.4 lbs fat**)
- Muscle Mass: 175.0 lbs (down from 177.6 lbs, **-2.6 lbs muscle**)
- Body Water: 137.4 lbs (down from 139.6 lbs, **-2.2 lbs water**)
- Body Fat %: 21.6% (up from 20.9%, **+0.7%**)
- Visceral Fat: 8 (stable)
**Total progress: -98.2 pounds** (336.6 lbs → 239.4 lbs in 32 weeks)
This was another water retention week. The scale shows +1.4 lbs fat gain and -2.6 lbs muscle loss, but that's the bioimpedance misreading water fluctuations again.
The DEXA proves fat is still being lost. The muscle isn't disappearing. This is just water and glycogen fluctuation masking the underlying fat loss.
## Three DEXA Scans: The Complete Transformation
I've now had three DEXA scans at the same facility:
**Scan 1: August 16, 2025** (5 weeks into retatrutide)
- Weight: 296.4 lbs
- Body Fat: 118.7 lbs (40.1%)
- Lean Mass: 170.3 lbs
**Scan 2: November 8, 2025** (12 weeks after Scan 1)
- Weight: 264.7 lbs
- Body Fat: 87.1 lbs (32.9%)
- Lean Mass: 170.3 lbs
**Scan 3: February 14, 2026** (12 weeks after Scan 2)
- Weight: 238.4 lbs
- Body Fat: 55.6 lbs (23.3%)
- Lean Mass: 175.5 lbs
**Total Transformation:**
- **Fat Lost:** -63.1 lbs
- **Lean Mass Gained:** +5.2 lbs
- **Body Fat % Dropped:** -16.8% (from 40.1% to 23.3%)
The three scans tell a clear story:
**Phase 1 (Aug → Nov):** Aggressive fat loss, maintained muscle perfectly
**Phase 2 (Nov → Feb):** Aggressive fat loss while gaining muscle
The difference between Phase 1 and Phase 2 was testosterone. I got on TRT 5 weeks into retatrutide. The second DEXA was before TRT had really kicked in. The third DEXA shows what happens when you combine retatrutide + TRT + heavy lifting.
## Protocol Changes: HGH Pulled, 8mg Retatrutide
After seeing the DEXA results, I made two protocol changes:
**1. HGH: STOPPED**
I pulled HGH completely after the scan. The experiment is over.
The DEXA proves the protocol works without it. I gained 5.18 lbs of lean mass in 12 weeks, lost 31.52 lbs of fat, maintained bone density, and didn't need HGH to do it.
Retatrutide + testosterone + training is enough.
HGH was an interesting experiment, but it's not necessary for the results I'm getting. Saving the money and simplifying the protocol.
**2. Retatrutide: Down to 8mg**
Week 32 was the first week at 8mg retatrutide (down from 12mg).
I'm titrating down to find the minimum effective dose for maintenance. The plan:
- 8mg for 3-4 weeks
- Then 6mg for 3-4 weeks
- Eventually down to 2-4mg maintenance

## Bone Density: Upper Percentile for Age
One interesting detail from the DEXA: **bone density is excellent.**
**BMD Results:**
- **Total BMD:** 1.248 g/cm²
- **T-score:** 0.5 (above average for peak bone mass)
- **Z-score:** 0.5 (above average for age-matched peers)
The standard practice for the previous two DEXA scans was different because I was too fat to fit my arms in the proper position (palms down). This scan was the first time I could do the default positioning.
**What this means:**
I haven't lost bone density during this aggressive cut. If anything, I'm maintaining excellent bone health.
This is likely due to:
- Heavy compound lifting (squats, deadlifts, overhead press)
- High protein intake
- Testosterone optimization
- Weight-bearing exercise 6 days per week
Bone density matters more than most people think. Osteoporosis and bone loss are major health risks as you age. Maintaining bone density during a cut is a sign the protocol is working correctly.

- Weight: 238.4 lbs
- Body Fat: 55.6 lbs (23.3%)
- Lean Mass: 175.5 lbs
If I maintain current lean mass and hit 15% body fat:
- Target weight: **214 lbs**
- Target fat mass: **31 lbs**
- **Fat to lose: 24.6 lbs**
Based on my 12-week DEXA average (2.63 lbs fat lost per week):
- **Estimated timeline: 9-10 weeks**
**Protocol:** Staying at 8mg retatrutide, no HGH, continuing TRT + training 6 days per week.
